The Long and the Short of Firearms, a new Australian documentary on the history of firearms, is now available on streaming service Beamafilm, and it’s free with a suitable library card or on a 30-day trial.
The documentary, proceed by Australian history buff and firearms enthusiast Malcolm Drinkwater, looks with an Australian perspective at the evolution of firearms and their place in society.
It’s a very watchable and interesting production, and you can read our review of it here.
“From ancient alchemy to the modern-day debates surrounding gun ownership, firearms have been an integral part of human history — shaping empires, wars and societies alike,” Malcolm says.
“The Long and Short of Firearms ultimately asks: How have firearms, from their earliest designs to their modern counterparts, shaped our world?”
Malcolm also runs the History Hill museum at Hill End, NSW, and has made a series of documentaries looking at Australia’s gold-rush history, and these videos are also available on Beamafilm.
