Video: SSAA & Shooters Union address “desperate situation” as action begins

The leaders of Shooters Union Australia and SSAA national have appeared together in a video to confirm that shooting organisations are working in unison against proposed new gun laws and to call for direct action by not only their members but everyone else.

“This is the most urgent situation and desperate situation we’ve seen in decades,” Shooters Union president Graham Park said. “We’re in the fight of our lives, really, for this.

“We’ve seen politicians use diversionary tactics to attack legitimate firearm owners and I can tell you the [firearm] groups are coming together, we’re working together.”

Tom Kenyon, CEO of SSAA Inc, acknowledged how dire the situation had become.

“It is urgent,” he said. “Premier Minns is recalling parliament … we’ve got 72 hours effectively until they’re in parliament.

“We’re going out to our members to ask them to take direct action.”

Various shooting organisations will be providing material to help gun owners directly address their local members of parliament.

Mr Kenyon, a former South Australian MP, said politicians do pay attention when a large volume of correspondence is sent to them on a topic.

The organisations are launching an advertising campaign to run over the next days.

Both Mr Park and Mr Kenyon have done dozens of media appearances in the past couple of days, along with participating in meetings with other shooting groups and overseeing the preparation of material for their respective organisations’ members.

  1. Experience in pest management in NZ and as a farmer in Qld for 60 yearsI relinquished my rifles and licence to the police who were charging me with a DV offence. Although that charge was dropped and the firearm licence expired while the charge was in limbo I have never been able to get ANY sense out of the police and as a consequence have had to rely on social security to survive. I never been convicted of anything but it now appears I shall have the rights to own a rifle again, just not fair.
