SmartRest’s Door Pro II is the latest version of a gun rest that came out of the simple MaXbox foam gun rest. It is light and costs a fraction of what other car-door gun mounts ask for.Â
All you do is slot it over the door, plonk the magnetised V-block section in place, rest your rifle on top and you’re away.
Because of its design, it won’t fall out yet you can slip it forward or backwards to suit your shot.
The V-shape of the upper holds you rifle steady while aiming, and its magnetic mounting allows you to easily pivot it to get on target. The foam is very gentle on your rifle’s stock.
I find it very easy to increase the arc of fire of the Door Pro by using it ambidextrously, something its stability promotes.
For Land Rovers, Land Cruisers and other cars with low sills, you can buy spacers to raise the height of the shooting platform. They too have magnetic attachment.
You’ll also find other places the Door Pro works well, such as ute tubs, in blinds and over railings.
