It’s not a restaurant and doesn’t even sell food, but it does stock a huge range of things that real foodies need, from kitchen essentials like knives and knife sharpeners to all sorts of gear for making anything from sausages, salami and pizza to beer, wine and cider.
It is the place to go for almost any food making gear, and the team regularly give advice to customers about how to make foods like sausages and salami — and what equipment they need.
Nine years ago, after realising the best way to teach people how to make food themselves was to give them hands-on experience, owner Brent started running workshops on a range of food-making skills.
Irrespective of your level of knowledge there’s a workshop or masterclass for you covering everything from sausage and salami making to butchery, charcuterie and even home brewing!
All courses cover everything you need to know, from hygiene and safety protocols to basic equipment requirements, how to store and hang meat and how to keep knives sharp — all the practical skills you will need to make your own food at home.
“Participants range from hunters and small landholders to home cooks and chefs looking to level up their practical skillset,” Brent says.
“They also come from across Australia, so we now offer longer two-day weekend workshops as well as the half-day ones so participants can get the most out of their trip.”
As a bonus, you might even get Brent to sharpen your knives afterwards on his Nirey electric knife sharpeners, which he’s happy to demonstrate and even happier to sell you.
