If you want to see the effects of bullet impacts as they happen, this is probably the only video you’ll ever need to see.
A few years ago, to showcase the cameras it sells, Germany company Kurzzeit and cameraman Werner Mehl produced some extraordinary footage shot at up to a million frames per second.
You’ll see jackets peeling back, lead seemingly liquifying, deflections, bullets hitting edges, glass shattering, swarms of shotgun pellets and more in amazing detail thanks to the super-slow motion.
The frame rate is so high that the bullet travel and after effects of impact are smooth and clear. In some cases you also see the bullet twisting in flight.
And at the risk of exposing my ballistic geeky streak, I have to say it’s beautiful to watch.
