Anti-HuntFest protestors appear to be claiming a victory against the hugely successful outdoor expo, which despite their outrage will once again be held in Narooma next year. According to an article in the Bay Post, a protest staged outside the Eurobodalla Shire Council attracted a mere 55 misguided souls.
The protestors were in attendance to present to Greens Councillor Gabi Harding a petition against HuntFest’s recent application for an amendment to their event licence that will allow the sale and display of firearms and ammunition, as well as the operation of a mobile air rifle range. The protestors claim that the petition contains some 40,000 signatures.
An article by Garry Mallard, OAM, however, reveals that the petition actually contains a vast majority of signatures from people who don’t even live in Australia, but instead come from places as obscure and far afield as Bulgaria, Ethiopia and Pakistan.
