A HOSPITAL patient will face court nextmonth after an observant doctor allegedly found a handgun hidden inhis prosthetic leg in a ward of one of Sydney’s busiest hospitals.
St Vincents Hospital was placed inlockdown yesterday as police searched for the gun in the man’s roomon level nine at 3.50pm.
Early this morning police charged the66-year-old patient with possessing a firearm and ammunition withouta licence after office allegedly located the handgun hidden under astocking in the man’s fake leg.
The man, who had his leg amputed due toa medical condition, will face court next month.
His 18-year-old son and the son’s23-year-old girlfriend – who were in the hospital room at the time -were also charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm andammunition.
