Low pass: Borsak rates NSW government

Hunters, Fishers and Shooters,

The sign pictured here is what the SSAA at St Marys is saying to every one of the 1000-odd shooters lining up to do their shoots, sighting in and comps at the 50m indoor range.

What with Silverdale and almost every 100 metre and above range in the state closed to 90% of shooters wanting to visit, one has to ask, what score would the shooters, hunters and fishers of NSW give the O’Farrell Government at the midpoint of its four-year term?

Here are some comparative scores for various Ministers and the Premier, all out of 10.

Police Minister Gallacher

Range management and restrictions: 0/10. Failed completely to address range restrictions.

Fire Arms Registry control and management: 0/10. Failed to curtail the excesses of police management and oppression through the Firearms Registry!

Ammo Bill: 0/10. Implementing the Bill even though the Government knows it was conned by Police.

Premier Barry O’Farrell

Hunting in National Parks: 10/10. It’s coming, like Christmas!

Duck and Quail hunting: 10/10. We are still waiting.

Game Council funding: 10/10. Mr O’Farrell has agreed full funding of Game Council for National Parks and Ducks and Quail rollouts.

Minister Hodgkinson, Fisheries

Restructure Marine Parks Authority: 10/10. Getting on with good policy.

Allowing beach and headland fishing in Marine Parks: 10/10. Following scientific audit recommendations.

Total: 50/80. Overall a pass, no thanks to the Police Ministry.
