A terrific study of a fox snapped by Alex Juris graces the cover of the May Sporting Shooter.

May Sporting Shooter Out Now!

The May issue of Sporting Shooter has hit the stands and I’d have to say that Marcus has outdone himself. Yes, I know, I would say that – but check out the cracking photo of the fox on the cover, for a start. It’s by Alex Juris and it’s one of the best I’ve seen. The photo is nicely complemented by the lead feature article in which Marcus himself shares some insights about whistling up foxes. It’s a great time of year for fox whistling, so have a read and get amongst the red dogs.

Elsewhere in the mag, Ted Mitchell Snr points out the hunting is better than being dead – I can’t argue with that, not that I’ve tried being dead. For all you guys who love the stick and string, there’s a jaw-dropping piece by Brenton Mitchell about his extraordinary big game bowhunting trip to the NT. Old hand Col Allison knocks over his best ever fallow buck – and with the number of deer Col’s shot, you’d better believe it’s a good one. Alex Juris takes his new Montana Magnum for a stroll amongst the stinkies, while Neil and Melissa Grennan have put together an informative article for those who love their scatterguns.

There are also reviews of the Ruger American .22 rimfire, the CZ .17 Hornet Sporter and a Yamaha ATV quad bike. And don’t forget all the usual columns including Uncle Nick’s Q & A session, reader’s stories in Offhand Shots, product reviews in Shooters Showcase and much, much more.
