PETA Gets Flamed After Steve Irwin Tweet

Google used its search engine homepage to pay tribute to what would have been the television star’s 57th birthday by replacing its logo with an illustration of him holding a crocodile

PETA accused Google of sending a “dangerous, fawning message” for honouring our own Steve Irwin.

PETA is in the business of taking huge quantities of money but doing little with it when it comes to true conservation and charity work. The public were quick to point out that Steve Irwin and his legacy has done more work for real conservation, wildlife and animal awareness then the money grabbing giant.

Aussies came down hard on PETA, slamming them for “disgusting rage marketing” and “dragging a beloved dead man’s name through the mud to get more eyes and clicks”.

“You know what you’re doing. Rage marketing works,” wrote Ryan Magee.

Another add: “You will get more comments and attention than normal, but your propaganda has ceased to have the effect it used to have and frankly you have plummeted to disgusting depths!”.

Celebrities are calling for the organisation to shutdown its social media, with the tweet gaining thousands of retweets.

PETA responed with was killed while harassing a ray; he dangled his baby while feeding a crocodile & wrestled wild animals who were minding their own business. Today’s sends a dangerous, fawning message. Wild animals are entitled to be left alone in their natural habitats.

According to FOX News PETA’s president later on released a statement,

PETA must ask who commissioned these dangerous, hagiographic cartoons of a man who died while harassing a stingray, dangled his baby while feeding a crocodile, and “wrestled” wild animals who were minding their own business. This fawning, ignorant tribute is a slap in the face to the vast majority of people who acknowledge that wild animals are entitled to be left alone in their natural habitats.

The Tweets that followedvouched to never donate to PETA again.

One resaction summed PETA up perfectly.”The kid who wasn’t invited to the party but came anyway and s*** in the pool just to get a reaction”, while others pointed to Irwin’s track record of wildlife conservation.
