Australia’s Laetisha Scanlan won a gold medal in Women’s Trap at last weekend’s ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy.
Currently ranked number six in the world, Scanlan qualified third with a score of 118 from a possible 125, and entered the final shoot-off with plenty of confidence.
After a very strong start, she dropped just four targets on her way to the gold medal.
The final 10 shots were a nailbiting battle between Scanlan and Spain’s Fatima Galvez, the pair going shot for shot and both missing their fourth-last targets, but Scanlan’s earlier advantage left her one shot ahead at the end.
“It was incredibly hot in the final but having said that I was so glad I was out there,” Scanlan said.
She adds to an already impressive tally of results that include three Commonwealth games gold medals.
