Vids Of The Week #20

Marcus and the team from Sporting Shooter have once again done the hard yards, sifting through YouTube clips to bring you the very best from the wonderful world of hunting and shooting. Again this week we have everything from the informative to the downright bizarre so grab a coffee or a beer and take a look.

People are awesome

We kick off this week’s package with a clip that’s not even about shooting! It is, however, about people doing amzaing things and I’m willing to bet you’ll want to watch it more than once. I did, and I still can’t believe the things the human body can do.

1940s pig hunt

With all the modern hunting gear we carry around these days it’s sometimes easy to forget that hunting in Australia has been around a lot longer than most of today’s hunters! Check out the footage of this pig hunt from the 1940s.

Historical air rifle

Next we have this clip about a Girandoni air rifle, as used by American explorers Lewis and Clark. Capable of repeatedly firing 46 calibre round balls, the narrator describes the gun the most important firearm in the history of the US.

Banning bows?

There’s been some bad press for bowhunting recently with more native wildlife getting illegally shot. Check out what this Channel 7 report had to say. The calls to ban compound bows are led, of course, by our old friend David Shoebridge.

Quigley’s Sharps

To finish up, here’s an entertaining clip for lovers of Western movies. Have a look at Tom Selleck as “the finest long range marksman in the world”.
