The Editor is again impressed by LED Lenser lights.
READERS MAY RECALL a review in the October issue of the LED Lenser P7 compact handheld flashlight which came as a revelation to me. Its brightness, rugged construction and pure efficiency were amazing and, although I have read unsolicited accounts from a few fellow hunters who say there are a few other torches out there that have a slightly stronger beam, they do it at the expense of many times the power consumption of the P7. While there are many quality offerings in the now burgeoning LED technology market, I still believe there is no all-round package to equal the P7 to date.
In a follow up to the success of the P7, David Yates, from Zen Imports, sent me a LED Lenser H7R Headtorch to review. Named as Technology Product of 2008 in the US Field and Stream Magazine’s Best of the Best awards after field testing, I decided to see what the hoop-la was all about. It came in an attractive blister-pack which allows you to test the beam before unpacking it. There are two quite similar units available which, in operation and appearance, are undoubtedly alike, one being rechargeable and the other using standard alkaline AAA s. Here they are.
