Federal adopts ELD-X bullet in Premium ammo loads

Federal is now offering factory ammunition loaded with Hornady ELD-X projectiles sitting on top of the company’s top-shelf Premium loads.

The ELD-X is a match-grade hunting bullet built with Hornady’s heat-shield polymer tip, a very high ballistic coefficient in each calibre, and a design intended to provide deadly expansion at near and far distances.

It has a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest hunting bullets on the market at present, especially for those taking game at increasingly long ranges.

Federal is loading the ELD-X into its nickel-plated cases using Federal primers and optimised propellants for each cartridge.

Federal offers the ELD-X in the following combinations of bullet weight and cartridge:

  • 90-grain projectile for .243 Winchester
  • 143gn for 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC
  • 154gn for .270 Winchester
  • 162gn for 7mm Remington Magnum
  • 178gn for .308 and .30-06
  • 200gn projectile for the .300 WSM and .300 Win Mag

All are sold in 20-round boxes and are available from most gun shops.
