I RECENTLY HAD THE opportunity to review an amazingly advanced product from Zen Imports, the LED Lenser P7 Flashlight. When I was growing up we called them torches and thought that the term “flashlight” was an Americanism. Having used this new product I would have to say that the old, weak yellow beamed “torches” we owned were in stark contrast to these modern precision tools that produce blindingly white, penetrating beams that the keen rimfire shooter could easily spotlight over.
The LED Lenser P7 supplied is one solid unit housed in a water resistant high-grade black anodised aluminium casing and featuring the lens and reflector system at the head, a high intensity LED with heat sink cooling, a Power Transformation Technology microprocessor, gold plated contacts and dual function battery pack and switch mated to the tail cap. It is all supplied in a box with a well-designed cordura belt pouch which has been designed so the unit cannot be switched on when encased, thereby not allowing the batteries to drain unexpectedly.
So why is the LED Lenser so good? Well,here goes;
• LEDs generate very little heat and convert almost all the available energy into light output, unlike conventional incandescent
bulbs which only utilise 10% of their supplied energy.
• LEDs last longer – their life is measured in years (up to 11.5 years of continuous output) rather than hours.
• LEDs are compact enabling bigger output from smaller devices.
• LEDs are durable, enduring rougher handling because they have no breakabale filaments. Lenser’s LEDs are the best quality available, thus ensuring top performance.
