After a brief look at Browning’s new Hell’s Canyon Ultra-Lite pants I simply had to have a pair. While most of my hunting apparel seemed to do the job, I was yet to find a pair of camo trousers that didn’t hold grass seed and burr. Cotton blend and canvas don’t hold seed, however, they do tend to be a bit restrictive, hot in warm weather and hard to dry quickly if they get wet. Browning have recently redesigned their range of Hell’s Canyon outerwear and as the name implies, it’s tough and hard wearing. What’s more this gear is weather resistant and very quiet in the bush. While Browning also produce the “Wasatch” insulated jacket and RealTree pants, their Hell’s Canyon Ultra-Lite outerwear range which includes both jacket and pants are ideal for my type of hunting and terrain where lots of walking in long grass is the norm.
Like the pants, the Hell’s Canyon Ultra-Lite Jacket feature Browning’s revolutionary ADDvanced Scent Control. Windproof
and highly water resistant, this jacket is quite breathable and also features a soft fleece lining. Next, the cuffs offer a stretch nylon hook and loop closure, making them fully adjustable and the underarms offer pit-zips providing ventilation and
breathability. Other features include two mesh lined chest pockets and two mesh lined hand warmer pockets, both with zipper closure. Again, similar to the pants, the Ultra-Lite Jacket features an articulated pattern particularly around the elbows
to provide comfort and additional freedom of movement when walking.
Both the Hell’s Canyon Ultra-Lite pants and jacket feature a two-tone finish in olive/camo for a very stylish look and no doubt excellent performance in the bush. This range is available in sizes S to 2XL. To compliment this fine range of outdoor apparel, Browning also produce a range of NTS-Upland long sleeve shirts and Browning caps all of which are now available here in Australia through Australian distributors Winchester Australia.
Firstly, their shirts are made of a breathable polyester knit which I’m told is moisture moving, so perspiration tends to travel through the shirt and dissipate on the outside. Ideal as a base layer in cooler weather or perfect for warmer weather, they are available in two-tone Khaki or Khaki/Blaze Orange with the familiar Browning logo embossed on the chest. These are available in S-3XL in a stylish cut with crew neck. Last but not least, Browning also offer a fine range of caps featuring their familiar whitetail deer logo on the front.
A Bit About The Pants
The Hell’s Canyon pants are constructed of a lightweight shell fabric that is water and wind resistant and highly breathable. While the outer shell is referred to as a short nap fleece it doesn’t seem to hold grass seed as it features a fine, smooth, silky feel to it. On the inside they feature a very fine, soft fleece lining for comfort which has been treated with Browning’s
revolutionary ADDvanced Scent Control that I’m told significantly reduces human scent. Next a functional waist with belt loops and zip-up fly compliment their style and fit, with two hip pockets featuring reinforced overlay for a knife
clip and two thigh pockets with zippered closure on each.
Add to this open cuffs with zip to knee opening for increased breathability and easy to slip on/off over boots. Another plus for these pants is the fact they are patterned with an articulated cut, so you’re not restricted when walking.
