Quick Look: Spydabot Scorpion 3.0

This Spydabot Scorpion 3.0 is what you need if you want to use an imagine device such as a thermal monocular by remote control. It’s a three-axis gimbal that will hold and point your spotter as well as accompanying accessories like laser pointers and torches, all while you sit in your car controlling the action with a joystick and watching it on a screen.

It hangs onto the bonnet or roof with six tenacious magnets on its adjustable feet.

The gimbal can pan through 360 degrees and has a generous amount of tilt, with it own wireless control. All you need is your spotter and smart device linked them as usual by wi-fi or Bluetooth.

It works brilliantly, and you can accessories the setup to enhance it abilities. The Scorpion is supplied with a dual mount to carry not only (in this case) the thermal but things like laser pointers and lights. Another accessory is a remote switch so you can activate the laser or torch from in the car.

You can expect at least 5-6 hours from the gimbal’s inbuilt battery. There are cable connections to allow devices to share power and even a battery pack you can add as an option.

Detailed instructions (and current prices) are on the Eagleye Hunting Gear website. At a glance, this appears to be a solid, well-designed system.
