Swarovski backpacks

Swarovski has added a range of backpacks to complement its optics, and they have very appropriate features.

The BPH packs, in 32- and 44-litre sizes, are designed for hunters, with features like a firearm sling that zips away on the side when not in use and ammunition loops in one of the side pockets.

The top strap securing the rifle has a quick-release clip allowing you to free your firearm for action without having to take the pack off.

There is a binocular attachment on the shoulder straps, meaning you don’t have to wear a bino harness as well as the pack.

Both sizes share many features and basic construction but the 44-litre pack is slightly beefier, with additional zip-up compartments and, notably, a central meat shelf compartment that separates your gear from the meat bags.

To use the meat shelf, simply unzip its circumference, release the compression straps and you’re ready to load and haul your meat or skins back to camp. This model also includes two large game bags.

Well-made and very robust, the packs are constructed from a quiet, polyester fabric that’s water repellent and easy to clean, and a rain cover is included.

They are built on the very comfortable Deuter LITE Carry System that combines comfort and durability, with height adjustment to suit individual stature, ensuring the weight is distributed evenly. I like the fact that the sternum strap can be adjusted for height.

Pockets on the waist strap and on the main body of the pack allow space for everything from ammo and GPS to water bottles and spotting scopes. A water bladder compartment is also included.

Keep an eye out for a detailed report in the magazine very soon.

Swarovski’s BP packs are more for birding and nature watchers, in 24- and 30-litre sizes. These feature fully open access to the main compartment by a full-length zipped closure, plus external pockets for other gear like batteries and other accessories.

Designed more so for those who carry camera equipment, they are well made and comfortable to wear.

Ask to see them at your local Swarovski authorised shop or visit the Swarovski Optik website.
