Aero Precision is well known in the USA as a manufacturer of AR-15 platform rifles and parts but it has expanded its range to include the new Solus bolt-action rifle, which is now available in Australia.
The Solus is built on the Remington 700 footprint but uses a three-lug bolt and 60-degree bolt throw, interchangeable bolt head, M-16 style extractor and dual ejectors. The Solus comes in a selection of variants to suit hunters, target shooters and competition shooters.

The Solus Lightweight Hunter rifle features Aero Precision’s lightweight action, the in-house Solus trigger, adjustable comb and length of pull, plus lots more. The stock is a Greybone Phoenix 2 that accepts an AICS/AIWA detachable box magazine, and it completes a very functional look and feel for this hunting rifle. The LW Hunter is available in the choice of .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 300 PRC, 300 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm PRC.
If you are a competition or target shooter, you will prefer the Solus Competition Rifle in black or FDE, with honed and lapped match-grade barrel, fully adjustable and modular Solus chassis and TriggerTech drop-in trigger. This model is available in .308, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6mm Creedmoor.
The Solus Bravo, in black or green, sits between the two, with a KRG Bravo chassis, TriggerTech trigger and lots more.
Aero Precision also offers its action and bolt heads in different configurations for those who would like to have their own perfect rifle built to suit their needs.
Editor Mick Matheson has briefly sampled the Solus models at the range to 500m and confirmed they are very accurate with factory ammunition, and that they have a very high quality feel with excellent triggers throughout. He is currently testing a LW Hunter for the September issue of Sporting Shooter.
