Apply now! NSW gun clubs offered $800,000 in grant funding

Funding worth a total of $800,000 is now on the table for NSW-based gun clubs, associations and ranges as the state government begins accepting applications under the Safe Shooting grants program.

Eligible shooting organisations can receive between $10,000 and $50,000 each to “improve the quality and safety of existing shooting facilities” as well as encouraging more people to use them, and increasing inclusiveness and accessibility, according to the NSW Office of Sport.

The funds can be spent on capital equipment, construction and facility upgrades.

This could include storage and security upgrades, purchase of electronic targets, solar installation, disability access, expansion of mounds and baffles, and many other potential projects.

“The Safe Shooting Program continues to support the infrastructure that our shooting communities depend on,” Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party MLC Robert Borsak said.

“This funding is vital for ensuring ranges across the state can meet the ever-increasing, and often arbitrary, tightening of regulations by the Firearms Registry.

“I urge all eligible organisations to begin considering their projects and planning their submissions for this valuable opportunity.”

The SFF has long advocated for the Safe Shooting Program, including the recent reintroduction of the grants after they were scrapped in what was widely viewed as punishment of the shooting community by the then Coalition Government.

Mr Borsak described the NSW Labor Government’s allocation of the funds as a “significant victory for the shooting community”.

Full details of the grants and the application process are available on the NSW Office of Sport website.
