North Arm Rifle Club member Colin Cole added to hisimpressive shooting career with his sixth Queen’s Prize victory at Belmontrange in Brisbane on Saturday.
Colin was the last Sunshine State shooter to win theQueensland Rifle Association event back in 2006, giving him a tally of 3 QRAQueen’s and 3 National Rifle Association Queen’s titles.
He was a convincing winner in the three day match whichfinished with a challenging breeze at 1000 yards.
With a third placing in the Duncan lead-up match, he alsosecured the Grand Championship at the 123rd running of Australia’s oldestQueen’s Prize which attracted shooters from around Australia and New Zealandwith a team from Japan.
Colin finished with a Queen’s score of 496 with 63 inner bullsin the 100 shot match over ranges from 300 to 1000 yards.
Ashley Bidgood from Crows Nest-Goombungee Rifle Clubfinished second in the Queens with a score of 493.51.
Kim O’Loghlen from Natives Rifle Club in Brisbane was thirdon count back from Brisbane Central member George Edser who both shot 492.53.
Max Bidgood from Crows Nest-Goombungee won the B GradeQueens and Lyndon Thurtell from Wingham, NSW the C Grade.
Hobart shooter Bob Pedersen won the Queens in F Standardscope class and Barry Lewis from Brisbane the F Open class.
Gillian-Webb Enslin from Pacific was in good early formwinning the two-day Duncan lead up match, dropping just one shot to score299.39.
