Shooters and Fishers Party meeting to form SA branch

South Australian shooters and fishermen may soon have apolitical party to vote for in the State elections if a special meeting of theShooters & Fishers Party (SFP) is successful.

The meeting will be held in Thebarton, SA, tonight (July 25)to bring the existing Shooters Party SA under the wing of the SFP, which is a federal party, to enable it to be registered for thestate election.

The Hon Robert Brown MLC from the NSW Legislative Councilwill be attending the meeting that is hoped will gather the necessary numbersto register the SFP SA name and elect a state chairman.

This will then start the process to nominate members for theSA state election in March 2014 in what will see South Australia add to thegrowing power of the SFP.

Shooters Party SA acting chairman Michael Hudson has calledfor the state’s 60,000 firearms licence holders to boost membership for theSFP. That would show the required numbers to make thetransition possible.

In a letter to firearm licence holders, fishers and otheroutdoor enthusiasts, Mr Hudson warned that statute rights were being systematicallyeroded by the government.

“This has been done, this is what is continuing to be done, and we are powerless to do anything meaningful about it until we elect a newParliament,” he said.

“In March, 2014, we have the opportunity to correct this. Ourcolleagues in New South Wales, the SFP MLC’s RobertBrown and Robert Borsak have achieved this in the NSW Legislative Assembly andrecently in Western Australia the same occurred with a SFP member, Rick Mazza also being elected.

“Your vote and support of the SFP canprotect your interests and safeguard the things you value the most, yourfamily, your friends your property and your implied rights and freedoms.”

Mr Hudson encouraged membership to the SFP through its website and called for attendance at tonight’smeeting at the Panrodian Hall, Henley Beach Rd, Thebarton. The meeting startsat 7.30pm.
