Some bright spark has adapted a sewing machine to trim his cases with a Lee trimming setup - ingenious. Don't try this if you are unsure of the electrical safety implications.

The “Singer” Case Trimmer

Case trimming is the necessary evil of reloading, in my opinion. I have cheaply mechanised and motorised the process as much as possible by putting a Lee Case Trimmer setup in the chuck of my electric drill, but it’s cumbersome.

My mate Rob Zarauz, also a keen reloader, sent me this untitled gem by email a few days ago and I think it’s the bee’s knees of motorised case trimmers. It shows great inventiveness, adaptability and lateral thinking, using the foot pedal to control speed of the spinning case.

The old “Singer” now has a new lease on life. If you make such a conversion, ensure a licensed electrician checks it out for safety before you switch it on.
