Bill Davey: a great advocate for hunting.

Vale Bill Davey

Hunting and fishing are poorer this week for the passing of Bill Davey, one of the great characters and avid supporters of outdoor sports.

Admired by thousands of outdoors enthusiasts, Bill had been the voice behind radio station 3WBC’s Outdoor Life program as well as the keyboard behind The Overflow, a weekly e-magazine full of hunting and fishing news, views and snippets.

He had also been planning a TV or web-stream program about hunting, and it’s a pity we won’t get to see him engaging in one of his favourite pursuits.

Bill was a strong and intelligent advocate for our sports, with a keen wit and a lively way of delivering a story, whether on radio or in writing.

Bill died last Sunday after a relatively short but vicious illness, leaving behind his wife Sabina, children Simon, Chloe and Camilla and granddaughter Isabelle.

He is already sorely missed.
