VC Winner Backs Big Boar Comp

Victoria Cross winner Ben Roberts-Smith has endorsed the Queensland Big Boar Hunting Championships, which will be held in Queensland between October 23 and 26 this year.  The Championships are organised by the Firearms Owners Association of Australia and will this year donate all proceeds to the Wandering Warriors.

Mr Roberts-Smith, who earned Australia’s highest military service decoration for his gallantry under fire in Afghanistan in 2006, said that as Patron of the Wandering Warriors Inc., he was pleased to recommend the Championships.

“The proceeds from this years’ Big Boar Hunting Championships will be used to support Wandering Warrior’s ongoing projects that offer practical assistance and hope to wounded and traumatised veterans and their families,” said Mr Roberts-Smith.  “I thank the organisers of the Championships for their generosity in recognising our important charitable work.

“The aim of Wandering Warriors is to make a difference in the lives of all Australian Defence Force veterans who might not otherwise receive the care and assistance they need.  Your support of the Big Boar Hunting Championships means we are a step closer to achieving that goal,” he said.

The three-day Championships are open to all pig hunters with rifles, bows or dogs. There are $20,000 worth of prizes up for grabs, so why not put yourself in the running while helping out this very worthy cause.  Further information about the Championships can be found HERE, or you can nominate on-line HERE.

Proceeds from the Big Boar Championships will be donated to the Wandering Warriors.
