Hunter Tyler Freel’s video of a frighteningly close encounter with a grizzly gives a good insight into the, er, distractions that North American hunters sometimes face.
Hoping to take a black bear using a bow, he came within a metre of a grizzly instead!
Tyler didn’t want to shoot the bear – it was neither his chosen quarry nor a legal option. He pulled out his back-up rifle just in case, but the way he dealt with the tense situation is a great example of holding your nerve under pressure!
The bear comes so close Tyler would have almost no time to react to an attack.
“They move extremely fast, but I was fairly confident that he wouldn’t become aggressive,” he said in his blog on Outlife Life’s website, where you can read the full story.
