It’s not very often we hear a politician give a speech in which he thanks hunters for their contributions to conservation and the environment. In this YouTube clip we hear New South Wales Senator David Leyonhjelm speak some uncommon sense about the positive outcomes of the activities of the hundreds of thousands of Australian recreational hunters. I won’t steal his thunder – I encourage you to have a listen for yourselves – but to give you a taste his concluding sentence goes something like this:
“Thankyou for the billion dollars you spent last year and thankyou for the tens of thousands of feral pests you killed for free when nobody else could”.
Amen. And thank you too, David.
