The Military Rifle Clubs Association has announced an invitational rimfire rifle shoot open to all competition licence holders on 24 May, with a Lithgow rimfire rifle as the major prize.
The shoot will be held on the Horseshoe at the historic Anzac Rifle Range, Malabar, on Sydney’s southern coastline.
It is the first time the event has been held since before Covid, when it was very popular, and organisers are expecting a good roll-up of entrants.
The three-position ‘minicore’ competition is for .22 LR rifles, with classes for open sights and optical sights, each with awards for first, second and third places.
There will also be a prize for the best junior shooter.
The Lithgow rifle will be won in a raffle draw of all competitors. And it’s not just a rifle you could win, either: it comes with a ZeroTech Vengeance 6-24×50 scope with MRAD reticle.

Other prizes include a $100 gift voucher for use in the NSW Rifle Association shop and a range of others.
The organisers are offering coaching and support on the day, and are encouraging shooters who are curious about the event to join in.
There will also be demonstrations and a lunchtime sausage sizzle.
Competitors need to bring 50 rounds of .22 LR ammunition with them, preferably standard subsonic loads, to be shot at ranges of 25m and 50m in the competition.
You must register to enter, which can be done through the MRCA website.
