New generation Burris riflescopes

A brand that deserves a lot more attention is Burris. When it comes to innovation in sporting optics Burris has always been at the forefront with features like Posi-Lock and Signature rings.

MY ASSOCIATION WITH BURRIS RIFLESCOPES began back in 1976 when the late Don Burris, showed me through his new optics plant in Greeley, Colorado, U.S.A. Don was a genius optical engineer with a solid background in the design, testing and manufacture of riflescopes. He worked for Redfield for over a decade and held various executive positions, before becoming General Manager.

During that time he developed several important innovations that we take for granted. He held the patents for non-magnifying reticles, internal rangefinding systems in variables, internally adjustable target scopes and a zoom system for mini-variables among other
ingenious and revolutionary improvements.

In 1971, Don Burris left Redfield and went into business for himself making iron sights, but by 1975 in addition to his own Burris Full-Field line, he was producing a range of riflescopes which were sold under the Browning label. By 1978 Burris lenses were given a Hi-Lume coating which Don Burris described as the biggest improvement in three decades.
