.358 Norma Magnum cases can be made from .338 Win Mag brass

Forming .358 Norma Cases

Q: My cousin gave me a Schultz & Larsen rifle chambered in .358 Norma which he used with great success on three African safaris.

Alas, I haven’t been able to obtain any cases for it. Can I make .358 cases from some other case without a lot of messing about?

Garry Grant

A: Ask me a hard one! Nothing to it!

Simply run .338 Magnum cases through a .358 full-length resizing die with a tapered expander plug and you’re done. Sighting your rifle in will form the cases perfectly.

If your die doesn’t have a tapered expander button, the company that made the die should be able to furnish one.

Neck length when the .358 case is formed from a .338 will be 0.152mm (0.006”) shorter than the Norma factory case, but that’s not a problem.
