To just call Ballistol a gun cleaner and lubricant would be an understatement as this amazing oil is a multi purpose product with 1001 uses. Firstly, it will clean and remove all types of bore fouling and minimize the need for brushing while also forming a protective film to the surface. Although it is fully compatible with all metal surfaces including aluminium, it will dissolve copper, zink and lead and can therefore be used to clean corrosive brass cases, bronze and silver. Due to its alkaline characters, Ballistol is also ideal for cleaning and maintaining black powder firearms.
I’m told Ballistol will not damage wooden rifle stocks either but more so condition, clean and seal them and highly recommended in climates with frequent rain or high humidity. This product can also be used to condition leather like gun holsters and even boots while effectively protecting them against the effects of water and mould. You can also use it to free up door hinges, keep battery terminals corrosion free and even throw a touch in the water when washing the 4WD to brighten up the cars paint when wiping down. It will also remove tar and insect stains and take care of a thousand other chores. Great for fishing, boating, home, garden and lots more it’s well worth a try. Ballistol is available in a 50ml. pump spray, 200 and 400 ml. aerosol and a 500ml oil.
