Sometimes the 4×4 won’t get you to where the game is and hiking many kilometres in and then hauling your catch out is not an option. The Cougar CAT 500 Hunter Edition is a pretty good solution and you can check them out up close at Abela’s Gunshop, which now sells these versatile quad bikes.
They can tow 500kg and carry 220kg, so you’ll have no trouble getting the carcass out back to the ute or shed, but the best thing is this Hunter Edition is fitted with some great accessories specifically for us.
As standard you get a bull bar, 3000lb winch, extra-large tyre package, extra wide fender guards, alloy wheels, towing pack and fully adjustable front/rear suspension.
The hunting extras include a Kolpin hard case transportation boot with soft case insert, Kolpin Rhino Ratchet Grips mounted to our solid shooters rest, 170mm Lightforce handheld spot light with cargo rack mounting bracket, rear storage boot and full camouflage ATV body.
The 500cc single-cylinder quad is built for traversing tough terrain and is fitted with a CVT automatic transmission that includes reverse. There’s also an L model which features a longer chassis and dual seats.

HOW DOES THE ATV/UTV ARRIVE, AND IS IT FULLY ASSEMBLED AND PRE-DELIVERED?
All Cougar machinery products are built in Australia. Pre-delivery and quality control inspections are carried out, and signed off on all machines by 3 separate QC assembly engineers before delivery.
Our youth bikes, CUB50, and Mini Claw 90, have the handle bars folded down for delivery, these models are sent via one of our Express freight partners. All bikes come with a tool kit, all you need to do is set the handle bars to a comfortable riding position and tighten the 4 x 12mm bolts.
The CAT500 Models and UTV’s are fully assembled and checked by our assembly engineers. These models are picked up and delivered on a car carrier to your door. Ready to ride, there is a small amount of fuel in the tank from when we carry out our pre-delivery checks. We cannot ship our machines with excess flammable liquids.
HOW ARE COUGAR PRODUCTS BUILT?
We source high quality components from only the most reputable suppliers, that have been tried and tested in Australia, followed by further development both locally and overseas. We source components from Australia, Japan, China, America, Canada and Europe. The components that are made overseas are made under the strict guidance of the quality control supervisors. Once our components arrive in our Sydney based factory, our highly trained assembly engineers thoroughly check and test the components before any further assembly is completed. Once all of the components pass the QC check the final build commences in our factory.
WHERE ARE THE ENGINES MADE?
Our engines are built in reputable, high quality engine manufacturing factories throughout Asia to our specific designs and specifications for some of our products. We also source engines from manufacturers Suzuki, Isuzu and CFMOTO.
ARE THE PRODUCTS STRONG AND RELIABLE?
Yes, our products are built tough! At Cougar, we dedicate a great deal of time to our research and development program. We vigorously test our machinery in harsh Australian conditions for extended periods – well in excess of what is considered normal operating conditions. We carry out these tests to better our knowledge on what our products can withstand; this is so we can confidently supply machinery that is capable of providing you with long term service. To assure you of this, we back our products with an industry leading warranty and outstanding after sale service.
WHAT IF THERE IS NOT A COUGAR DEALER NEAR ME?
While we are always actively expanding our dealer network across Australia, if there is not a dealer near to your location; contact us directly to purchase your machine. We do have a high number of Cougar Service Agents across the whole of Australia that we can put you in contact with should you require any service or warranty work. However you can choose to take your machine to your preferred local licensed/qualified mechanic, and we will work closely with them for all your service and warranty needs.

Yes, Cougar Machinery Australia hold a good amount of stock. Every component of every bike we sell is available from our parts department, from wheel nuts and wiring harnesses to complete engines and transmissions. Having this stock is vital for the way we support our customers and their machines, this gives us the ability to quickly and efficiently send parts and accessories for service and warranty purposes.

STRONG BIKES BACKED BY A STRONG WARRANTY
Cougar Machinery Australia (CMA) are proud to back our machinery with a 3 year unlimited KM warranty nationwide on parts and labour. This warranty accompanies every machine we sell. At CMA, we know that our machinery is built tough, due to the tireless efforts of our research and development team and the high standard of quality control that every component fitted to our machines go through.
Our warranty has been structured so that it will not only guarantee the strength of our machinery, but it is also simple and easy for our customers to call on when a component may not be quite right. If you have a warranty claim, our warranty team will work quickly and efficiently with you until the issue is resolved.
CMA has also structured this process to suit the individual needs of our valued customers. You can take our machinery anywhere in Australia, and if an issue arises you will have our immediate attention. You can take your bike to the closest repairer to where you are (approved service agent or any licenced/qualified repairer) and we will organise replacement parts to be sent out that same day*.
Our warranty is assigned to the VIN (vehicle identification number) on every machine, so if you wish to sell your machine and upgrade to a newer model our warranty will carry over to the new owner, they are welcome to call our team to confirm this and the end of warranty date, before the sale.
A few months out from the end of warranty date, you can expect a call and email from our support team to advise you to take your bike in for an end of warranty inspection – if there are any warranty issues we will rectify them right away!
