SOG Altair knife

SOG Altair FX fixed-blade knife

The SOG Altair FX is a versatile, lightweight fixed-blade knife with a very smart sheath that offers several mounting positions.

The blade is made of CPM-154 steel and features an 86mm (3.4”) drop-point blade and an overall length of 193mm (7.6”).

The titanium-nitrate coated blade has ribbing on the rear of the spine for non-slip grip and also on the front near the tip of the blade for better grip up close when caping.

The handles are textured for comfort and easily removable for cleaning. You can even use of the knife without the grips.

The Kydex sheath includes an adjustable alloy bracket on the back that allows the use of different mounting angles on a back pack, belt loop, molle or similar; you can also remove the bracket and simply attach the sheath without it.

Well designed, lightweight and compact, the Altair FX is yet another multi-functional knife in the SOG range that’s well worth a closer look.

Razor sharp out of the box, I trialled this knife while caping a fallow buck earlier this year and was pleased with its performance.
