Animal rights group Animals Australia have today cancelled the free clay target shooting day they had planned for the opening weekend of the Victorian duck season due to lack of interest from hunters.
In a media statement released this afternoon, the company that had been booked to run the event, Go Shooting Pty Ltd, owned by former Olympic shooters Russell and Lauryn Mark, advised that the total booking fee profit from the event would be donated to the WET trust, which is administered by the Field and Game Association for the purposes of purchasing, restoring and maintaining wetland habitats.
