Marcus,
I found this paper that was publishedby the NSW Parliamentary Library in February 2012. It says that only3% of stolen firearms were found to have later been used in crime. Itseems strange that the Police Minister couldn’t answer question byShoebridge. Perhaps a figure so small as 3% didn’t suit theirpolitical needs???
Regards….Chris
Use ofstolen firearms in crime: Firearms stolen in three percentof theft incidents in 2008/09 were identified as having beensubsequently used in the commission of an offence, or found in thepossession of a person charged with a serious offence. In one case, afirearm was found in possession of a member of an outlawed motorcyclegang. Only one theft resulted in the use of a firearm to commit aviolentcrime.
