Gun jobs: SIFA seeks communications advisor

The Shooting Industry Foundation Australia (SIFA) is advertising for a media and communications advisor to join it, and is offering flexible conditions in either a full-time or part-time role.

SIFA is the peak body of the Australian firearms industry, set up to promote, develop and represent its interests.

“SIFA is expanding and we have an immediate requirement for a proactive and professional mid-level media and communications advisor,” CEO James Walsh said.

“We are looking for someone who is able to work autonomously and independently, with the ability to manage their own time to deliver a wide variety of professional and well-structured corporate communications.”

The salary is negotiable, he says, based on experience, and there is flexibility in where the successful applicant would work from.

Applicants will need to develop a very good understanding of the firearms industry in Australia, including how it operates, political and legal issues affecting it, and the positions of those who oppose it such as gun control advocates.

The job is multi-facetted, involving research, writing communications material, promotions, social media, campaign development, media relations and so on.

SIFA is looking for a qualified person with at least five years’ experience in media, marketing, communications or journalism.

You can see all the details on the SIFA job centre website.

Mr Walsh said anyone who is interested can call him directly for a confidential discussion about the role, on 0419 933 066.
