Well the ABC reported last week on the phenomenon of increasing numbers of Firearms Licence holders and a 30% increase over the last 12 months of firearm permits issued.
The article goes on to mention in passing, as the ABC is wont to do, that there are more private licence holders who own more than 100 guns. Shock – horror! The sky is going to fall in, surely.
Waiting … waiting … waiting … nup, sky didn’t fall in, but that immensely scientific justification of mine aside, one of Gun Control Australia’s two members, Samantha Lee (Yawn) is jumping up and down … a lot … and has promised to hold her breath until she turns blue … a lot, IF SOMEONE DOESN’T DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! How tiresome and emotive this pair are.
Like anywhere else in the civilised world that has experienced increases in legal private gun ownership over the last 10 or 15 years, it is pretty likely that Queensland has a falling violent crime rate. Of course that could also be because in recent years they’ve been allowed to drink decent beer instead of XXXX.
But seriously, congratulations to Queensland for leading Australia in the processing of more Licensed Firearm Owners and gun registrations to boot.
