Zen Imports, the Australian distributor for LED Lenser lighting technoloy, just sent me a prototype of the amazing new LED Lenser X14 twin-head flashlight to review for Sporting Shooter magazine and I thought I’d preview it for our web readers, as I am the first writer in Australia to see and touch one.
My first impressions are that it has blistering light output, well in excess of their P7 line of torches, in a slightly bigger package, being 38mm in maintube diameter where the P7 is 25mm. The twin beams, like a well-regulated double rifle or a Spitfire fighter planes wing-mounted machine guns, converge a short way from the user to send a concentrated, superimposed beam a long way out-don’t ask me why they don’t cross over – they just don’t. Burn time is a different story – the P7 lasts a lot longer on a set of Alaline triple-A’s but it doesn’t have that huge 480 lumens output either. I can’t wait to get a production unit.

Here is Zen’s take on the product:
A remarkable lamp head with two light sources is the most outstanding feature of the X14. This focusable LED lamp from the LED Lenser Xtreme series achieves an impressive light output. Pu to 480 lumens radiate from the lamp head, converging to form a focusable, circular light cone. Three light programs with up to eight light functions (Smart Light Technology) allow for individual configuration. Due to this versatility, the X14 is not only suitable for sports and hobby purposes, but also for security personnel and tactical applications.
