23-year-olds Catherine Skinner (Mansfield Park, Vic) and Laetisha Scanlan (Berwick, Vic) will head to Abu Dhabi next week to compete at the ISSF World Cup Final for Shotgun.
The capital city of UAE will host this invite-only event, which allows for competition amongst the very best athletes in the world. The Women’s Trap squad will boast the world’s top 12 trap shooters from 10 nations.
Both Skinner and Scanlan have had break out performances on the international circuit this year. Looking to add to their list of achievements, the Victorians will be strong contenders amidst a world-class playing field.
Currently ranked fifth in the world in Women’s Trap, Skinner has won two Silver medals at World Cup events this year (Al Ain, UAE and Nicosia, Cyprus). She then went on to win a Gold medal at the University Games in Kazan, Russia.
Scanlan won the Gold medal at the Qatar Open at the start of this season, and then confirmed her excellent form with a Gold medal win at the ISSF World Cup for Shotgun in Al Ain, UAE. Scanlan is currently ranked 11th in the world.
