When will it end?

Western Australia would have to have the toughest, most unreasonable gun laws in the Federation. On a shooting forum I read recently that one of our American brethren wanted to emigrate to Perth and the resounding advice from the Australians was, inter alia, “anywhere but WA”. See a common sense article about gun crime in the West Australian Burning Issue article here.
In NSW, we have a Police Commissioner who is spearheading a populist, watermelon Green push to limit and over-bureacratise ammunition purchases by licensed shooters because of the squillions of guns stolen from licensed firearms owners being used in the commission of crime in Sydney eg drive-by shootings – give us a break, Commissioner. In an interesting development, his own Police Force has just cracked an illegal handgun importing racket in Sydney with sophisticated distribution networks direct to criminals; so how are LAFOs or Licensed Dealers involved in this scenario, Mr Scipione?
North of the border, the Katter is among the pigeons due to the Australia Party ad, which highlights political opponent, Campbell Newman’s hypocritical on-again, off-again support for gay marriage, depending upon which political pressure group pushes his buttons at the time. In the washup, some poor ABC journo has been laid off for doing the voice-over for the ad. The chattering classes have decried the ad as discriminatory and anti-gay, when it’s actually just an example of forthright free speech in the context of an unbelievably PC, nanny state allied media. One may pose the question, “If she did the voiceover for a Greens or Labor ad, would she be treated the same way?”Bob Katter could say the same thing about coverage of himself in the left-biased press. Let’s hope all the mostly negative coverage he garners from this results in success at the coming Queensland Election, due to his electors seeing through the smears.
Here are three links to recent press articles which, more or less factually report on some of the issues mentioned above.
These days you have to be very selective in what you believe in the Australian media.
