Sako’s A-7 Walkabout Varminter

Sako’s A-7 fitted with Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14×44 scope is a smooth-working varmint outfit which delivers impressive accuracy.

Over the years, Sako rifles earned an enviable reputation for being high quality products and were widely known for their precision engineering and workmanship. Changes to the original design in recent years haven’t sustained their popularity. Indeed, many shooters and gunwriters  have questioned Sako’s decision to deviate from what was a highly successful design and  claim that the rot set in with the 491,  591 and 691 series. Even when Sako introduced comes with a 5-shot MoA guarantee that are entirely different real Sako aficionadoes weren’t happy. Nor are they thrilled about the latest budgetary model A-7 which marks a striking departure from Sako’s premium rifle category.

Under these circumstances it would be easy to label the Sako A-7 as just another attempt to market a cheaper rifle, but there’s no denying that it’s slim and trim, despite being built to a price. So, before being hasty in passing judgement, let’s remember that handsome is as handsome does.

The most impressive thing about the A-7 is that it comes with a 5-shot MoA guarantee. Today, there are quite a few bolt-actions that offer a 3-shot  MoA accuracy guarantee, but to date the only other production rifle in the world that offers a five-shot MoA guarantee is the Sako 85.
