Update on ammunition legislation

UPDATE ON AMMUNITION LEGISLATION.

Last week we saw the proposedammunition legislation almost forced down our throats by theGovernment in an easy fix for gun and gang crime. Well the good newsfor now is the flood of protest calls made by firearms owners tolocal members of Parliament, over the Government/Green Bill to imposefurther control on the sale of ammunition, has caused at least atemporary halt to debate on the legislation..

At the end of last week the Governmentbegan debate on it, but has adjourned for one week “to considersome amendments”. MLC’s Robert Borsak and Robert Brown from theShooters and Fishers Party will continue to oppose the bill, but willprobably have to support sensible amendments to it if passed to atleast reduce it’s adverse effects on shooters, clubs and dealers. If the Government insist on pushing through the new restrictions, they have the support of the Greens and the opposition, so it willbecome law, but we are still in there fighting. There is no doubtthat the Liberal Government in New South Wales has the same view onfirearms as John Howard did.

Thanks to all those law abidingshooters and fishers who took the time to contact their local memberto complain about the proposed legislation. If you haven’t done so,I urge you to have your say. We will keep you posted on news as itcomes to hand.
