Well-known optics company Vortex has released a collection of eyewear in two styles, the Banshee and the Jackal, which are both stylish and ballistic rated, making them ideal for hunting, fishing, shooting and as everyday wear.
They are ANSI and MIL-PRF rated, the former being the American National Standards and the latter a US military standards certification for protective eyewear and ballistic eye protection.
Both Banshee and Jackal provide a flexible fit. The Jackal sunnies offer a wrap-around fit, while the Banshee are a more traditional style. They feature a non-slip bridge and temple mat.
The clarity is excellent, as they ensure less glare through their 100-percent UV protected, polarised lenses. They are also anti-reflective.
The lenses have a special smudge-resistant coating that repels oils and fingerprints, keeping them clear.
Other features of both these models include anti-scratch lens coatings, shatter resistant lenses, lightweight and flexible design and the Vortex lifetime warranty.
While I was recently visiting Extravision Australia, distributors of the Vortex brand here, the boys showed me a pair that had been chewed up by a customer’s dog — they were being replaced under that warranty.
The Banshee sunnies are available in the choice of three colours: black/amber, black/smoke or green/amber, all in a non-mirror finish. The Jackal sunnies can be had in black/amber with a gold mirror finish; blue/smoke with a blue mirror finish, or black/smoke with non-mirror finish.
Each pair of Vortex sunnies comes complete with a special cleaning cloth and zip-up case for storage and protection.
Ask for them at your local Vortex optics dealer or gun shop, or visit the Extravision website.
