Don’t use graphite for sizing cartridge case necks

Redding Imperial Neck Lubricant

Powdered graphite is a no-no.

Q: I’ve been dipping the necks of cases in powdered graphite before resizing them , but it leaves
a black residue on the outside of the necks which I have to remove with steel wool. Is there a commercial preparation that will lube the necks without any mess?
– Brian Metcalfe

A: I gave away using graphite to lube case necks years ago in favour of Redding Imperial Dry Neck Lube. This clean, dry lubricant does the work of graphite by lubing the inside and outside of the case neck to reduce drag on both the die and expander button without concern about powder contamination or the usual dirt and grime.
