Lightforce .30-06 Ace Precision Rifle

APRS, the rifle manufacturing division of Lightforce Australia is offering a series of rifles: Hunter, Varmint and LR Precision. Built around Stiller actions from Texas and fitted with premium barrels, these rifles are guaranteed to shoot 1/2 MoA or better.

Most shooters are probably unaware that Lightforce, a division of Nightforce Australia has been engaged in building Ace Precision Rifle Systems for the last ten years.  APRS assembles semi-custom rifles from  components obtained from various sources – actions from Stiller in Texas, match-grade barrels from Maddco and Krieger, stocks from Manners MCS-SL, bottom metal from Pacific Tool & Gauge and triggers from Rifle Basix. That’s a pretty impressive list of high quality components, one that puts Lightforce in competition with companies like H-S Precision and Nosler. The rifle sent for review was the Long Range Hunter in .30- 06 a calibre that I feel is very versatile for all big game hunting. It will handle anything from fallow to sambar and is not out of place hunting pigs. With a Nightforce 2.5-10×32 in the company’s two-piece ring mounts and fitted with a Maddco heavy fluted 650mm varmint contoured barrel, the APRS Long Range Hunter reminded me of nothing more than the Remington Sendero SF II which is was very similar to the Model 700 Varmint SF except that it is chambered for big game cartridges.
